The Newcastle Gems young sensation Archie Freeman was in great form at The National Speedway Stadium last Saturday night.
The 12-year-old was in scintillating form to score 11 points from his four qualifying rides to make it through to the final of Round 7 of the series. The only point he dropped was to Luke Harrison whom he lined-up against in the final at Belle Vue.
Harry McGurk and Elliott Kelly were the other two riders in the final and it was McGurk who took the chequered flag first with Archie producing a challenging four-laps to avenge his loss to Harrison and take second place overall.
Archie who when having the opportunity to race in this Championship series has shown superb form equalled his best performance when he also came runner-up in Round 2 at Scunthorpe. In between times Archie has also raced at Leicester and Redcar.
At Leicester in Round 5 he had three wins from three when the meeting had to be abandoned and at Redcar in Round 6 he scored 10 points from four rides only narrowly failing to qualify for the final be a solitary point.
All at Newcastle Speedway send congratulations to Archie on his fabulous form and hope he keeps progressing well and that ultimately he'll be lining up in The Diamonds team in a few years time.
If young Archie continues on progressing like he’s doing he has every chance of achieving his ambition of one day becoming a senior Diamond in the professional ranks.
