Newcastle did a fine job dismantling the Sheffield Tigers on Sunday night despite the visitors being bolstered by seven-time British Champion, Scott Nicholls.
The match saw the return of Robert Lambert after his leg injury picked up in Poland and looked pretty decent having made an early comeback, but made comment about feeling uncomfortable on the bike in an after-match interview, scoring eight points.

Captain Lightning Ludvig Lindgen lived up to his title with ease taking four straight wins, only succumbing to Nicholls in Heat 15 for the skip's 14 points on a night when the Diamonds looked more in control than most of the season, giving a secure feeling that success was easily on the way.

Steve Worrall added a fine 12+1 while Stuart Robson looked like the Robbo of old for 7+2, the same score as Ashley Morris, backed up by 3+1 hard earned points from Alfie Bowtell and a couple from Ben Hopwood.

Attention now turns to next Sunday night, which, if the weather behaves will be the final meeting of the season, and what a night it's going to be!

It's double-header time next Sunday with the Workington Comets opening the Brough Park show with a sharp start time of 4.00pm (Doors open at 3.00pm) on the very dot for at the conclusion of that SGB Championship League match the Redcar Bears are up for another 15 league races, and after the last Bears' visit to Tyneside, the fireworks could be set off a couple of weeks early.
