FULL congratulations have gone out from the Newcastle "Boiler Technical Services" Diamonds managenent to their newest asset, Danny Phillips, on gaining an SGB Championship team place in Lincolnshire.
Just last week Boiler Technical Services, Stakeford Tyre Services and Steve Brock Photography clubbed together to buy young Phillips' contract from Peterborough Panthers to add him to the full asset list of the Diamonds, in the hope he could at some point gain a Championship place later in the season, and then look to a Brough Park return in 2019, but circumstances took a sharp turn which has seen him join the Scunthorpe Scorpions as their number seven, 2.00 averaged rider, and Newcastle would like to wish him every success at his new base for 2018, along with his National League Coventry Bees place as well.

Scorpions promoter Rob Godfrey said, talking to the BSPA website last night: “We looked at all the options for a two-point rider to complete the side, and Danny was the best option – he has the experience of riding in this league.

“Danny is only on a two-point average because the lad was unfortunate to get injured last season, before he could do enough meetings to get a new average.

“We’ve signed a very strong top six, and the pressure will be on them to score the points to win us meetings. But Danny is certainly capable of scoring points as well. He is the final piece in what we very much hope will be a Championship-winning jigsaw.”

Have a great season Danny!
