Newcastle host British Under-21 Semi this Sunday - video link with Roy Clarke and Danny Phillips below.

Newcastle Speedway delighted to host the 2018 British Under-21 Semi Final - This Sunday at 6.30pm
After a washed-out opening weekend, the wheels are finally set to hit the Brough Park shale and burst the 2018 season into action as 16 of the country's best youngsters take the first steps to their Under-21 British Championship success with the second semi-final set for 6.30pm on Sunday.

Riders from all over the UK descend on Byker, although there is major interest for supporters of the Northern scene as Diamonds' team manager and co-promoter explained: "It's a good field on it's way to us on Sunday, and with the names like Jack Smith - son of former Diamond and GP rider, Andy, Alfie Bowtel - a 2017 Diamond who came on leaps and bounds last year with us, and Nathan Greaves to name but three, then the quality of racing is there to be seen, but there's also a good Northern connection too.

"From the Berwick connection is Northumbrian-born Leon Flint, who has just turned 15 and taken up a place with the Birmingham Brummies in the National League. He is undoubtedly a big star in the making and will hit the heights as his career progresses, but this is his first stab at Individual glory at 500cc level, and its on North Eastern shale, although he has had great success already at lower engine sizes, winning the British 150cc Championship in2015 and the British 250cc Championship in 2016 and 2017!

"Then we have 16 year-old Kyle Bickley from Whitehaven in Cumbria who has signed for his "home" team of Workington this season and will no doubt have a good travelling support from the West, as Leon will from the North. It all makes for potentially a top class atmosphere and top quality racing, and we've even reduced the adult entrance for the occasion."

Newcastle will be charging just £10.00 for any adult entrance - a significant reduction on the usual adult fees, while the children's (11-16) rate remains at £3.00 while 10 and unders go free with the whole deal representing excellent value for money.
