Perhaps "man" is stretching it a bit but there's no doubting the talent of the Gem that is Archie Freeman.
Young Archie was in unbeatable form around the fast Glasgow circuit yesterday. He made it three wins from three rounds and another five ride maximum to boot as he stood at the top of the rostrum in the 150cc British Youth Speedway Championship once again.
He's now further increased his lead at the top of the standings and cemented his place as firm favourite to take the British Youth Championship at the 150cc level. It would be a brave man to bet against him going the whole way now.
On a track which he hasn't always favoured in the past Archie and his mechanics got the set-up spot-on for each ride and his extra power and drive had him well clear in all five of his rides by the end of the four-lap races.
He didn't set the world alight from the gate in a couple of races including the Final where he had to battle from the back but his track craft and skill on his bike soon had him hitting the front and heading off in to the distance to bring another glorious afternoon to a fitting conclusion.
Archie's Gem's partner Danny Smith who is learning lots through this competition showed great improvement on the day too. After three solid third place finishes he sped away in his last outing to record a superb win and give himself a very pleasing six points for his afternoon's efforts.
All at Newcastle Speedway were delighted to hear of the young boy's efforts and results and send heartiest congratulations to both especially Young Archie who remains unbeaten in his quest to become British Champion.
