The Newcastle Diamonds' team jigsaw has had another vital piece added this week with the news that 24-year-old Swede, Victor Palovaara is returning to Brough Park three years after his last period in the Diamonds' colours back in 2016.
Look out for Jeff King's interview with the returning Swede in the next few days on this website!

From Karstad in Sweden Palovaara originally joined Glasgow back in 2014 and 2015, as well as a hugely popular stint with Newcastle in 2016. That season he averaged 6.50 but returned for the Edinburgh Monarchs. He also races for Kumla Indianarna in the Swedish league and has been a World Under-21 finalist in 2015.

Joining the already-signed quartet of Nike Lunna, Matty Wethers, Thomas Jorgensen and Max Clegg, Palovaara's return has given the side a solid-looking, rounded appearance which is filling Newcastle co-owner, Martin Phillips with enthusiasm and positivity for the forthcoming season which gets underway in April.

"Victor is a fast-gating, stylish rider," said Phillips, "who also boasts lots of experience round Brough Park which is only a good thing. He comes to us on what we have to describe as a bargain average and I for one thoroughly believe he has the ability to improve on that dramatically.

"Dealing with Victor was a pleasure as once he knew Newcastle were interested in his signature, he proved extremely keen to jump back on board and I believe he may have turned down better offers from other clubs in order to return to us, and that shows real loyalty to us.

"He is a former crowd favourite and a really likable individual, so I cannot express how delighted I am that he is back with us. His addition to the side really boosts our scoring power."

As for Newcastle's final two for 2019, it is understood they will have their identities revealed in an announcement at the forthcoming Diamonds' Christmas Party at the PTE Club in Byker on Saturday coming, December 22nd at 7.30pm.
