Newcastle “Boiler Technical Services” Diamonds vs “HEB” Scunthorpe Scorpions. Sunday 7th July 2019. 6.30pm

Both teams will be hoping for better weather as this is a re-arranged fixture from the 16th June, when heavy rain for days left the Brough Park circuit flooded.

Since then the Scorpions have changed their line-up. Ben Barker has joined, initially on a 28-day contract, as a replacement for the injured Jason Garrity.

Barker had been released by Redcar and the Scorpions have made use of that by bringing his all action style to the Eddie Wright Raceway.

Also joining the Scorpions is a familiar face to Diamonds fans. Simon Lambert, who started the season as a Diamond of course (pictured above), joins the Lincolnshire side as a replacement for Josh Bailey, who has decided to quit the sport.

The rest of the side includes Josh Auty, who scored eight points when he visited with the Scorpions at the back end of last season, another recent recruitment, Danny Ayres, who would have missed the match scheduled for June, Jake Allen, who will be hoping for a better night than the one he had last September as he only scored five points and young reserve Ryan Kinsley.

Scunthorpe have revealed on Friday that Stefan Nielsen will not be fit to ride and will use Rider Replacement to cover his outings, however we do have a large doubt currently as to if our own Thomas Jorgensen will be fit following crashing out last night and damaging a shoulder, so the club are keeping their fingers tightly crossed for good news in time for Sunday night.

The Diamonds will be going into the match full of confidence after seeing off Berwick last Sunday and on Monday Max continued his fine form as he rattled off a faultless maximum for Cradley who beat the Isle of Wight at Monmore Green.

Sunday should be another great meeting and doors open at 5.30pm with tapes up at 6.30pm.
